6/15/2020 1 Comment Trance-Ending The Great PauseMovies have always fascinated me with their ability to pull you in emotionally and to elicit a sense of identification with a character or situation. One of my favorite films of all time is the Matrix movies in which, as many of you know, the lead character Neo wakes up to the fact that his entire experience is just a simulation. That movie, while radically innovative with its special effects, was more importantly an existential paradigm shift for a lot of people, myself included. It genuinely caused me to stop and consider the nature of reality. When you think about it, watching any movie is itself a sort of plugging in to an alternate reality. All you do is hit the play button and in just a short period of time you can find that your heart starts racing, your muscles tense up or you’re in complete tears. The experience on screen becomes, on some level, your own experience.
